ABOUT ME

Michael James Mina is a passionate Filmmaker & Artist, dedicated to using the power of Film to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. This calling began in December of 2017, when thirteen days before graduating with a college degree in Finance, Michael’s best friend Jimmy tragically overdosed. This immediately raised deeper questions of life’s meaning, and the brevity of our lives here on earth. Exactly two months after Jimmy’s death, Michael quit his professional job working for Siemens, a German multinational technology conglomerate, and decided to pursue his life’s purpose - Acting and Filmmaking. Since 2017 Michael has Written, Directed, and Acted in over ten films, including a Feature film (The Breaking of the Runt, 2022). He has received multiple Film Festival Awards - Best Short Film (The Boy Under the Magnolia Tree) Best Feature Film, Best Director, Best Lead Male Actor (The Breaking of the Runt), and most notably he won the Edward William Wasser Award at the Playhouse West Film Festival for “Most Promising Filmmaker.”

Michael is currently in Production for a film addressing the topics of Drug Addiction and Sexuality, slated to be filmed in March of 2024.
